Bundeskunsthalle Bonn Salon

In 2023 we had a honor to redesign a space in the iconic postmodern building by the Austrian architect Gustav Peichl in Bundeskunsthalle Bonn. The Salon is a public space, that anyone can use, even without a museum ticket. Here you can reflect on the current exhibition, explore catalogs, or simply read the newspaper or a book from the library, have a cup of tea, and relax.

The architecture of the space is structured by a curtain with an organic layout. This allows the room to be divided into smaller niches and retreats or used as one large space. The flexibility of the space was the priority of the project, so it can also be used for workshops or lectures.  The furniture is light or foldable for flexibbility or moved outside, when good weather. The library is positioned on a podest in the back of the room and creates a separated zone.
